Apple II Software Archive

Software from other sources that I’ve accumulated over the years is available here.

Cayman GatorBox/GatorBox CS

These are LocalTalk-to-Ethernet bridges with a fair number of extra capabilities, not all of which I’ve plumbed. I’ve gotten mine to put my Apple IIGS and non-Ethernet-equipped Macs on the home LAN for file sharing (through a Linux box running netatalk) and Internet access (even on the IIGS, with Marinetti and its MacIP link-layer support).

gatorbox.zip

This zipball contains the final version of the GatorBox firmware, utilities for configuring a GatorBox, and instructions. You’ll need a 680×0 Mac to use it; it won’t run on PowerPC Macs (not even Old World PowerPC Macs, like the beige G3 I used to have), and x86 Macs never had the necessary hardware.

Manuals

(updated 25 Nov 14)

Manuals have recently been scanned in and are available as PDFs:

Gatorbox-Users-Guide.pdf
Cayman-Network-Ref.pdf

(These were originally obtained from http://www.applefool.com/se30/moreinfo.html#downloads.)

If you have a GatorBox (not a GatorBox CS), you might also find this useful:

SettingUpYourGatorBox.pdf

(Andrew Roughan provided a link to this one here.)

Apple IIGS System Software

Apple still has this up on its website, but you’ll need a Mac (preferably 680×0, definitely nothing newer than Old World PowerPC) to put their images back onto floppy disks for installation.  Apple used to provide disk images that could be unpacked on a Mac to floppies and then installed on a IIGS, but these seem to have disappeared.  In any case, the files that follow are a little more convenient for use with emulators or a real IIGS when you don’t have a Mac available.

Apple IIGS System 6.0.1.zip: contains .2mg 3.5″ disk images; ideal for use with emulators
system601.iso: a bootable CD-R image! Plug in a SCSI CD-ROM drive, pop in the disc, and install to your IIGS’s hard drive without the floppy shuffle.
HyperCard IIGS 1.1.zip: .2mg disk images of HyperCard IIGS 1.1. Mac and IIGS versions of HyperMover are also included to move stacks between the machines (from what I understand, you need HyperMover at each end).

Brutal Deluxe Cracks

Repacked versions of the files available from http://www.brutaldeluxe.fr/crack/, in a form easier to get running on a real Apple II (though you should still be able to unpack these for use with an emulator, too).
